Artist Statement
From conception to completion to the presentation of an art piece, the most important component is light. In the absence of color, I use shape, form, texture, and shadow to develop the imagery. Years ago, I decided that I wanted light to come from within the art when all exterior light is omitted. This led me to developing my present medium, translucent porcelain. In some pieces the contrast of exterior and interior lighting can create a metamorphosis effect of the image. By adding color, the art can evoke different meanings depending on every individual perception.
